Mr. Ferré Rangel was the Social Innovation Officer for Grupo Ferré Rangel and Editorial Advisor for GFR Media in San Juan, Puerto Rico from 2018 to 2023.
A journalist, Mr. Ferré Rangel was editor of El Nuevo Día, Puerto Rico’s largest newspaper for over two decades. In 2014, he became editor-in-chief of GFR Media, overseeing the overall news strategy for Grupo Ferré Rangel.
During his tenure, he invested in the journalism quality of El Nuevo Día and spearheaded the early phase of the newspaper’s digital expansion.
From 2018 to 2023, he was in charge of the social innovation strategy for Grupo Ferré Rangel. Its mission was to strengthen the social entrepreneurial ecosystem in Puerto Rico through capacity building, financial investment and collective leadership.

He is part of the Ferré Rangel School of Communication faculty at the University of Sacred Heart in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he teaches sustainable development and journalism courses.
Mr. Ferré Rangel is passionate about the transformational power of journalism, public policy and citizen engagement through deep listening, dialogue and action.
He is the founding president of Agenda Ciudadana. This non-profit organization trains citizens to be more engaged in public issues. It facilitates the dialogue between citizens and the body politic to strengthen the democratic life of Puerto Rico.
He is president of the board of Centros Sor Isolina Ferré in Puerto Rico, a youth services organization founded by the Puerto Rican nun Isolina Ferré, M.B.S.T.
He is a Board Trustee at the Puerto Rican Endowment for the Humanities.
He serves on the board of the Washington-based Sustained Dialogue Institute and as Trustee on the Board of the Panamerican Development Foundation, also based in Washington, D.C. where he chairs the strategic planning committee.
Mr. Ferré Rangel obtained a BA in History from Amherst College in Massachusetts in 1988 and a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from Boston University in 1990.
